When Things Feel Big

Hello friends,

I wrote an essay for my Patreon supporters yesterday, about elections, community, and not going back to sleep. This brief essay is a reminder that we all hold power and potential. We hold power no matter what our work is, what sort of economic background we come from,. We hold power whether we feel creative, or healthy, or ill. We hold power whether we feel well-loved or alone.

No matter who you are, I hope you find ways to claim and use that power. Just like flowers in spring, and seed pods facing winter, your life is important. As it is. Right now.

Here’s a brief excerpt from the essay:

We live in a cusp time, during great upheaval. We must keep each other awake. We must venture into the cold and keep each other warm.

We must remember the systems that control us all, no matter how great our privilege, and how comforting our insulation.

How often do you interact with unhoused neighbors? How often do you help immigrants? How often do you invite your child’s trans friend to lunch? How often do you share resources and skills? How often do you ask for help?

What do you champion? What do you support? What would you rather forget?

How will you not slide into complacency? How will you engage for the long haul?

If you’d like to read the rest, I made the post shareable and free on Patreon this month: Stay Awake.

Thanks for being here. Thanks for showing up for me, your families and friends, and your communities. Every effort counts.

Best Wishes - Thorn
