Hello friends, It’s the darkening time in the Northern Hemisphere. Samhain. Halloween. Day of the Dead. As a young teenage witch, I was taught this was one of the times of year the “veils between the worlds were thin.” May Day or Bealtaine is the other time. Sex and death. Openings to faery and the realms of souls departed. This year, like every year, I honor the dead. I honor those of my bloodline who—with all their faults, prejudices, and failings—gave me the strength to forge my way. I honor the ancestors of spirit: those activists and artists who continue to inspire. But I also honor the spiraling passage of time itself. Everything ebbs and flows, and this time of year is a good reminder to pay attention. Change is coming on the wind, for good or ill… or sometimes both. All over the world right now people are rising together to confront tyranny, as tyranny does its best to fight back. So, I honor the living, as well. There are many bridges to be crossed. Perhaps you are crossing some yourself. Or perhaps you are remembering those who crossed into death. Perhaps you are also celebrating those who are newly born. Whatever transitions you are pondering right now, I wish you well. Blessings of the season. May this time enrich you and yours, in sorrow and in joy, wherever you may be. Best Wishes - Thorn
