Her stature was a breathtaking Thing to behold. She towered in her beauty, Face turned toward me… A giant among women and Gods.
What could I do, but fall in love?
This is my second poem in honor of the Brigid Poetry Festival. It is written from the viewpoint of the God Freyr, upon first seeing the Giant, Gerðr. He would subsequently woo her for a long time before she consented to marry. The Kings of Sweden are said to be their offspring, via the line of Fjölnir.
